The Top 5 U16 Prospects from the 2024 FIBA Africa Regional Youth Camp for Girls.
Number 1
Maimouna Traore: 5'7" | PG/SG | Mali
WNBA Draft Eligibility: 2027
Scouting Report: She was on the Mali national team that recently won the 2024 U18 FIBA AfroBasket in South Africa. She played exceptionally well, organised her team, and pushed the ball hard and fast, using her speed to set an unmatchable tempo. She consistently pressured the defence, understood her role, and passed the ball effectively, making her teammates better. She didn’t need star players around her to succeed; she knew when to pass, when to drive, and played unselfishly. She was highly aggressive on offence, creating opportunities, and on defence, she applied full-court pressure, stealing the ball and finishing layups. Her experience at the national level showed—she was confident, knew her game, and performed outstandingly.
Number 2
Hania Nasser Fayez Mohamed Hassabelnaby: 6'3" | SF | Egypt
WNBA Draft Eligibility: 2028
Scouting Report: She is a small forward who can do it all. Extremely active in attacking the basket and highly competitive on both ends, she maintained focus throughout. While not as explosive or fast as some others, her solid fundamentals allowed her to surprise defenders. In the paint, she used euro steps effectively, finished well with both hands, and scored at a high percentage. Beyond scoring, she rebounded, defended, and pushed the ball in fast breaks—a very well-rounded small forward. One area for improvement is her shooting, but she still found ways to contribute. At 6'2"-6'3" and 16 years old, playing the wing with the right character and personality, she shows clear potential.
Number 3
Maxine Anyango: 5'8" | PG/SG | Uganda
WNBA Draft Eligibility: 2026
Scouting Report: She plays both guard positions—point guard and shooting guard—with high IQ and poise, whether as the primary ball handler or shooting guard. She has a smooth three-point shot, takes open shots, and makes smart decisions. Recently, she has taken on more primary ball-handling, consistently delivering the right passes and cuts. Her style focuses on making the team better, regardless of her position or possession of the ball, which makes her highly effective. Although she’s a reserved, low-key player without standout athleticism or size, her impact on the court marks her as one of the top players in the group.
Number 4
Menyar Ben Rabeh: 6'3" | F | Tunisia
WNBA Draft Eligibility: 2027
Scouting Report: She played as a forward, standing around 6'3" with a high basketball IQ and the ability to finish in the paint within a few dribbles. She didn’t focus on creating her own shot but stayed around the ball, positioned well on both offence and defence, and communicated effectively with her teammates. She showed good shooting ability, making several shots from beyond the three-point line—a valuable player to have on any team. She finished with both hands, displayed confidence near the rim, and had a smooth shooting motion that helped to extend the floor.
Number 5
Awa Bathe: 5'10" | PG | Mali
WNBA Draft Eligibility: 2027
Scouting Report: She’s about 5'9" or 5'10", strongly built, and very explosive. She played well, consistently beating her defender and showing an ability to drive into the paint, absorb contact, and finish—an essential skill. She’s primarily a scoring ball handler, looking to make things happen without being selfish. She played at the same pace as her team and could find the open player when needed. Very strong player, with a lot of potential as a point guard.
