FIBA Africa Central Board to Meet for Discussions on Upcoming 2025 Events

From April 3rd to 5th, the Central Board of FIBA Africa will meet in Rabat, Morocco, for several crucial meetings aimed at shaping the future of basketball across the continent for 2025 and beyond. This high-level gathering will bring together key decision-makers to discuss important topics, including the past year's activities, upcoming competitions, and strategic administrative matters.

Among the key agenda points are the 2025 flagship Afrobasket tournaments for both men and women, as well as the U16 African Championships for boys and girls. The Road To BAL, the qualification pathway to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and the Woman's Basketball League Africa, will also be under review, alongside the expansion and development of FIBA Africa's 3x3 events.

Additionally, the board will determine the locations for upcoming championships, ensuring the continued growth and accessibility of basketball throughout Africa. The meeting will be attended by several prominent figures, including FIBA Africa President Anibal Manave, Regional Director Dr. Alphonse Bilé, COO and Deputy Regional Director Julien Farran, and Executive Committee Members Samuel Ahmedu, Pascale Mugwaneza, Paulo Madeira, and Fodé Amara Condé.

Manave, re-elected as FIBA Africa President in June 2023, continues leading the federation into a new era. A former player, coach, and commissioner from Mozambique, he has been instrumental in expanding basketball on the continent. Dr. Alphonse Bilé, another distinguished figure in African basketball, brings decades of experience as a former player, coach, and administrator.
