In a high-stakes showdown despite already securing qualification, Egyptian giants Al Ithihad delivered a commanding performance against FUS Rabat, cruising to a 98-74 victory in a statement game that reaffirmed their supremacy in the Kalahari Conference.
FUS Rabat started strong, taking a slim 19-17 lead in the first quarter. With sharp ball movement and early offensive rhythm, the Moroccan side looked poised to challenge the undefeated Al Ithihad. However, the tide quickly turned in the second quarter, as Al Ithihad flipped the switch and put on a clinic.
The Egyptian side unleashed a masterclass in offensive execution, recording a blistering 30-point second quarter. Easy cuts, accurate passing, and flawless ball movement involved all players, dismantling the FUS defence. Meanwhile, their own defensive intensity suffocated the Moroccans, who were held to just 11 points in the quarter, struggling with forced shots and disrupted plays. Al Ithihad took firm control at halftime with a 47-30 lead.
The second half followed a similar script. Al Ithihad's defensive lockdown continued to frustrate FUS, again limiting them to only 11 points in the third quarter. With their defence fueling their offence, Abdelhady Elraei capitalized on the momentum, exploding for 19 points, while Kyle Vinales added 13. The team's depth was on full display, with five players reaching double-digit scoring, creating a balanced and nearly unstoppable offensive front.
By the fourth quarter, the game looked out of reach, but FUS Rabat refused to go quietly. They roared back with a 33-point final quarter, led by the explosive Nisre Zouzoua, who finished with 22 points. Soufiane Benhamine and Badr Azouga chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively, briefly rattling Al Ithihad's defence.
Despite the late surge, it was too little too late. Al Ithihad maintained their composure to close out the game 98-74, sealing their sixth consecutive victory and underlining their dominance in the conference. With such a performance, Al Ithihad reinforces their title ambitions and sends a clear message. Even with qualification secured, they're not taking their foot off the gas.
