Lockdown third quarter propels Senegal past Madagascar into U18 AfroBasket semi-finals
In a physical quarter-final bout in Abidjan, Senegal punched their ticket to the semi-finals with a commanding 54-40 victory over Madagascar. What began as a tight, defensive tussle through the first half quickly turned in Senegal's favour following a decisive second half surge. Sparked by dominant third-quarter lockdown where they held the Malagasy side to just four points, Senegal broke open a two-point halftime margin to a comfortable double-digit cushion. Anchored by a monster performance by star forward Codé Mbengue who delivered 19 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and five block. Despite Madagascar's valiant fourth quarter effort, Senegal's defense proved impossible to overturn in the closing minutes.
