Egypt Dominates Kenya! Sayed Mohamed’s Double-Double Powers Finals Berth at Women’s AfroBasket Pre-Qualifiers

Egypt delivered a commanding performance against Kenya, sealing an 84-62 victory to book their place in the Women's Zone 5 AfroBasket pre-qualifiers finals. The Egyptians were simply unstoppable, with Sayed Mohamed putting on a masterclass, dropping 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a top-notch performance that left no doubt about their championship ambitions.

Egypt imposed their dominance from the opening whistle, using their size, skill, and tactical discipline to dismantle Kenya's defensive schemes. Mohamed was at the heart of Egypt's offense, scoring at will and controlling the boards. She had plenty of support from her teammates, who executed a well-structured game plan to neutralize Kenya's threats.

On the other hand, Kenya struggled to find consistent offensive production outside their star duo of Victoria Reynolds and Mercy Wanyama. The two combined for 37 points, but with little help from the supporting cast, their efforts fell short against the relentless Egyptian side. While Reynolds showcased her scoring ability and Wanyama fought hard in the paint, Kenya lacked the depth to match Egypt's firepower.

The win propels Egypt into a high-stakes final against Uganda, with the winner securing the coveted ticket to the 2025 Women's AfroBasket in Côte d'Ivoire. Meanwhile, Kenya will have a chance to redeem themselves in the third-place game, a rematch against South Sudan, where they will hope to end their campaign on a high note.
