In a thrilling contest at the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Côte d'Ivoire battled Lithuania fiercely but ultimately lost 97-93.

Côte d'Ivoire displayed resilience throughout the game, highlighted by their strong performances in the second and third quarters, where they outscored Lithuania 24-23 and 30-18, respectively. However, their efforts faltered in the crucial fourth quarter, as they were outpaced 32-21 by a determined Lithuanian squad.

The match was a thrilling back-and-forth affair with 11 lead changes. Lithuania held the edge for 19 minutes, while Côte d'Ivoire led for 17 minutes, underscoring the closely contested and unpredictable nature of the game.

Lithuania's largest lead of 11 points contrasted with Côte d'Ivoire's 9-point advantage at its peak. Shooting percentages also favoured Lithuania, which shot 54.2% from the field and 65.8% from the 2-point range, compared to Côte d'Ivoire's 41.8% overall and 50% from 2-point territory. Beyond the arc, Lithuania hit 33.3% of its shots, slightly better than Côte d'Ivoire's 29.6%.

Rebounding proved decisive as Lithuania outrebounded Côte d'Ivoire 39-32, with a notable 23-15 advantage in team assists. Despite trailing in turnovers (16-8), Côte d'Ivoire capitalized on points off turnovers (21-9) and fast break points (10-4).

Lithuania secured the victory in a late-game surge, led by NBA star Domantas Sabonis alongside Lukas Lekavicius and Marius Grigonis. Jean Philippe Dally spearheaded Côte d'Ivoire's efforts, but their inexperience showed in the final 1:31 of the game, ultimately costing them the win.

Despite a valiant effort, Côte d'Ivoire's heroic efforts throughout the game ended in disappointment as Lithuania's collective experience, intelligence, and clutch performances down the stretch proved decisive.
