The 2024 FIBA Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) season featured Africa's top hoopers, delivering unforgettable performances. From Shaina Pellington's scoring brilliance to Ndioma Kane's MVP-worthy play and Aminata Ly's rebounding dominance, last year's WBLA was one of the most competitive in recent memory. Ndioma Kane rightfully earned the 2024 WBLA MVP award for her exceptional performances with Al Ahly. The talented guard has been a force on both ends of the floor, combining her scoring ability with elite playmaking. Kane's basketball IQ, leadership, and consistency made her the cornerstone of Al Ahly's tournament successes. Her poise under pressure and ability to control the game made her a standout performer in the tournament, and her offensive and defensive contributions were instrumental in her team's dominance.
Shaina Pellington, APR's dynamic point guard, was one of the standout players of the 2024 WBLA. Pellington's ability to control the pace of the game, her explosive speed, and her knack for scoring were instrumental in her team's success. Averaging an impressive 109 points during the competition, she proved to be one of the league's most potent offensive threats. Pellington's leadership and clutch performances in crucial moments solidified her position as one of the best players in the tournament.
Ferroviaro de Maputo's tenacious guard, Ingvild Mucauro, was a key contributor to her team's success in the 2024 WBLA season. Known for her aggressive defense and ability to facilitate offense (4.3 APG), Mucauro played a vital role in keeping her club competitive throughout the tournament. She consistently made key steals, pushed the ball in transition, and created scoring opportunities for her teammates. Mucauro's leadership on and off the court proved invaluable, and her well-rounded game cemented her status as one of the league's top performers.
Dabou Kamite was a standout forward for ASCVD during the 2024 edition of the WBLA, delivering both scoring and defensive stability. Kamite impressed with her versatility, scoring in multiple ways, including finishing in transition, posting up, and hitting mid-range jumpers.

Sharpshooting center Raneem Elgedawy was a key offensive catalyst for her club throughout the 2024 season. Her three-point shooting (although inconsistent at times) proved crucial, as she consistently knocked down deep shots to spread the floor and create space for her team. Elgedawy’s ability to score from beyond the arc and her leadership in high-pressure situations made her one of the most important players for Al Ahly. Her shooting accuracy and high basketball IQ were instrumental in her team’s success.
Aminata Ly was dominant on the boards during the 2024 WBLA season. With 84 rebounds, Ly showcased her elite rebounding ability, both offensively and defensively. Her hustle and tenacity around the basket were invaluable for her team, as she consistently outmuscled opponents for rebounds and secured extra possessions. Ly’s work ethic and understanding of positioning made her one of the top rebounders of the tournament.
In addition to her rebounding, Ly was a huge defensive stopper for her team. Averaging 2.8 blocks per game and 1.7 steals per game, she was a constant force in the paint, altering shots and disrupting opposing offences. Her ability to protect the rim and her on-ball defense were key factors in her team’s defensive success throughout the season. Ly’s defensive prowess, combined with her rebounding, solidified her as one of the most impactful players of the tournament
Anabela Cossa was the lethal shooter from beyond the arc during the 2024 WBLA season. Knocking down well over 20 three-pointers, Cossa proved herself to be one of the best perimeter shooters in the competition. Her ability to stretch the defense and knock down deep shots opened space for her teammates, making her a critical part of her club's offensive strategy. Cossa's consistency from distance earned her the title of the league's best three-point shooter this season
