On Day 2 of Group B action, Egypt secured an impressive 73-50 win over Uganda, displaying its basketball prowess and claiming its second victory of the competition. The Egyptians, building off the momentum from their previous game, asserted control early and sustained their dominance throughout the match-up. Uganda game close by 5 points at a given moment yet Egypt maintained its leg on the gas pedal.
Omar Mohamed Aly was the standout player for Egypt, leading his team with an 18 point and 7 rebound performance. His consistent scoring and key rebounds helped Egypt build a decisive 23-point margin over Uganda. Aly’s leadership on the court was evident, as he pushed his team ahead in critical moments, further stretching the score and keeping the Ugandans at bay.
Though Egypt’s victory was largely shaped by individual brilliance, it was still a collective effort from the team. Egypt maintained solid defensive pressure, limiting Uganda’s ability to find their rhythm offensively. Uganda, despite showing determination, couldn’t overcome the organized play and athleticism of the Egyptian side.
Ali Assran, another key figure in Egypt's squad, shared some pertinent thoughts about the game afterward.
Today's performance was really not the best we hoped to win by more, we thought that we were more experienced i don't think we did our part in this game.
Assran pointed out that the team did not follow the game plan effectively. He also noted that while the victory was comfortable, the team needs to focus on continuous improvement as they prepare for more games.
Uganda, despite the loss, showed flashes of brilliance but couldn’t sustain the momentum long enough to challenge Egypt. For the Ugandan side, regrouping and addressing their shortcomings will be crucial as they prepare for their next game in the competition.
With this win, Egypt takes a commanding position in Group B, leaving Uganda to reflect on their performance and adjust for future challenges.
