Team Profile: FUS Rabat – Roster, Key Players & Outlook for 2025 BAL Kalahari Conference

Welcome to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, where the lights shine a little brighter this season. The Basketball Africa League returns and hosts the highly anticipated Kalahari Conference, which is none other than the rising powerhouse, FUS de Rabat. But this is not just about being hosts but about redemption, ambition, and legacy.

Last season, FUS made their debut in the BAL, and what a first impression it was. In just their inaugural appearance, they toppled the reigning champions Al Ahly and the eventual titleholders Petro de Luanda. That run stamped them as serious contenders, a team that refused to be overlooked. But then came heartbreak, a loss to Cape Town Tigers in the quarter-finals, sealed by a buzzer-beater that still haunts Moroccan fans. The dream ended too soon, and the pain lingered. But true champions rise.

Since that crushing exit, FUS de Rabat has done just that. They’ve dominated the Moroccan league, clinching back-to-back national titles and asserting their supremacy at home. Their game has matured. Their identity is a lot more substantial. Their hunger is deeper. And now, they return to the BAL with a vengeance in their veins and the roar of a home crowd behind them. This time, they’re not just another team in the competition. They are the hosts, and that changes everything.

Coach and the front office haven't just relied on homegrown talent. They’ve retooled their squad with two talented Ivorian aces who have already made a thunderous impact:

Nisre Zouzoua: A flamethrower from deep, a scoring machine with international pedigree Afrobasket, World Cup you name it. He dropped 32 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists last week against Marrakech. He’s not just in the lineup he’s in the DNA. If he gets hot, defenses melt.

Mike Fofana: A versatile forward with elite basketball IQ. Whether spacing the floor with a three, battling in the post, or cleaning the glass, Fofana fits perfectly in FUS’s system. His presence gives them two-way flexibility and real muscle in the paint.

As action gets underway on April 5th to 13th, the home team will seek to build on their debut BAL performance with players like American point guard Johnathan "John" Devante Jordan key for their quest.

"It is a good opportunity for Morocco fans to come out and see their favourite players while also bringing attention to the sport and culture in the country. The team is very confident, we have been putting in work all season preparing for this moment and now that the time has come, we are ready to go and demonstrate our skills and make the country proud."

Devante Jordan told the club's media ahead of the competition.

FUS de Rabat enters the 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) with one mission: survive and conquer the Kalahari Conference—then push for a deeper playoff run, maybe even a title. They have the roster, rhythm, and the crowd. Every possession will be electric. Every game is a war.

After 19 years without a league trophy, FUS Rabat reclaimed the Moroccan championship in 2023, securing their spot in BAL 2024. The North African side topped their Conference in Pretoria, advancing alongside eventual champions Petro de Luanda. Their playoff run ended in the quarterfinals after an overtime loss to Cape Town Tigers. Now, they’re back with unfinished business.

Jonathan Jordan, the heartbeat of last year’s squad, is returning to lead the charge. His 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists per game represent balance, reliability, and veteran leadership. Alongside him is Ayoub Nouhi, a spark plug on both ends—a relentless attacker and a defensive pest, setting the tone for FUS’s aggressive play.

But there’s no ignoring the void left by Aliou Diarra, the team’s rock in the paint last season, who departed for APR Rwanda. FUS wasted no time securing his replacement—enter Pape Diagne, the big Senegalese man from AS Douanes. A BAL Finals veteran, he brings toughness, experience, and a battle-tested presence in the paint.

Their campaign tips off on Saturday, April 5, against Al Ittihad Alexandria in a high-stakes opener that promises fireworks from the first tip. This is FUS de Rabat. Bold. Balanced. Battle-ready. The road to the BAL title goes through Morocco—and this time, they’re not just here to participate.

They’re here to take it all.
