Gabon: Reconstruction of the National Basketball League

The Gabonese Basketball Federation recently held discussions with the National Basketball League. Their objective was to revitalise LINAB's activities, align its statutes with new regulations, and, most importantly, implement a comprehensive restructuring.

During this meeting, the Federation President seized the chance to dismiss FEGABAB's Ordinary General Assembly resolutions held on September 3, 2022. The assembly granted discharge to the Federal Office, empowering them to establish an Ad Hoc Committee to explore avenues for revitalising the National Basketball League. Additionally, the President aimed to present the activity proposals outlined in the Ad Hoc Committee's report, submitted to the Federal Office during the Ordinary General Assembly on September 3, 2023.

In a lengthy meeting, the following decisions were reached:

- A Félix Ambourout Onanga-chaired committee will be established to oversee the organisation of the election for the President of LINAB.

- The Committee for the organisation of the election will consist of five members. Alongside the president, the parties involved will collectively select the other four members.

- Starting from February 15, 2024, the Committee will have a 45-day timeframe to formulate specifications for welcoming new members, establish the quorum for participating in the election of the LINAB President, and organise the electoral process.

Youzou Elite Basketball

Meanwhile in the Youzou Elite Basketball, Espoir BC won in pain against Moanda Basketball 57-56.

Le Phœnix took things personally in their matchup against GSBC Élite. Lerry Essono and his teammates dominated the young God Spirit Basketball Club Élite squad, securing a convincing victory with a score of 108-61.

Cameroon: Elite Men’s Championship

The Cameroon National Elite Men’s Championship tipped off last weekend in the city of Douala, featuring eight games played over the course of two days.

It was a weekend with surprises as we witnessed young teams rise to more significant challenges. Meanwhile, some prominent names in the championship, including FAP, suffered two consecutive defeats for the first time in five years. See full time score below:

A vibrant start to the season unfolded as these teams faced each other on game day 1. We were far from witnessing a scoresheet with fewer than 100 accumulated points.

On game day 2, three teams secured narrow victories, with one of them displaying unwavering determination throughout the match. The Douala Firebirds dominated against FAP, holding them hostage and compelling FAP to exit the game as the losing side. It was a challenging weekend for the five-time consecutive champions of Cameroon.
