Jo Lual-Acuil was awarded the 2024 Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy as the MVP of the Season, a testament to his extraordinary talent, leadership, and profound impact on his team. Lual-Acuil's achievements throughout the season have been nothing short of remarkable.
Not only did he lead the league in scoring, but he was also recognised as the Defensive Player of the Year. His dual accomplishments highlight his versatility and dominance on both court ends. Rivers Hoopers' point guard Will Perry was honoured with The Manute Bol Trophy, awarded to the player who best exemplifies sportsmanship and camaraderie on and off the court. Perry's conduct throughout the season demonstrated the highest standards of integrity and respect, earning him this prestigious accolade.
In addition to this honour, Perry's outstanding performance on the court earned him a spot on the 2024 All-BAL First Team, solidifying his status as one of the league's elite players.
AS Douanes guard and team captain Alkaly Ndour received the 2024 BAL Ubuntu Award in recognition of his ongoing efforts to use basketball to impact the lives of youth in Senegal positively. Ndour, the founder of "Kayelennioufo" (which translates to "Let's have fun"), organizes a basketball tournament that brings together nearly 250 amateur players in his home neighbourhood of Bopp in Dakar.
This initiative promotes physical activity and fosters community spirit and camaraderie among the participants. On May 25th, in conjunction with Africa Day, Ndour was honoured with the 2024 BAL Ubuntu Trophy during an on-court ceremony to celebrate his significant contributions to his community through the sport.
