Ibrahima Diallo: A Beacon of Hope Carrying the Aspirations of His Nation

Eighteen-year-old Guinean talent, Ibrahima Diallo, carries the hopes of his nation into the African U18 Championship, commencing this Thursday, August 4, in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Scouted for Guinea national team at the age of 15 while on vacation in the country from the USA, he ascended through the ranks within Syli Basket until he was selected for the final window of the World Cup African qualifiers in Abidjan (July 1-3, 2022).

During the African U16 championship held in Cape Verde in 2019, Ibrahim Diallo made a significant impact, marking it a period he holds dear in his memories.

“During the competition, it was really different from what I knew from the United States. It was more physical and that's something I enjoyed. And this physical impact did not shock me on the contrary, I told myself that this is what I would need if I wanted to evolve into a professional, ”he confided told africabasket.net before the start of the competition.

In the third window of the World Cup qualifiers in Abidjan, Guinea secured the last qualifying ticket for the next round in Group C, where Ibrahim Diallo will have the opportunity to gain more experience.

"Within the senior national team also everything is going well with my teammates who are attentive to me" the young rising star later stated.

He will put it all on the line for his nation and his teammates in Antananarivo, potentially securing a place on the podium for them.

"At the African U18 championship, it will be an interesting competition because I will play with people of my age or I could evolve at a level with people of the same age as me, it is something interesting in perspective." Recalls Ibrahima
Diallo.
“We all fight together, is the state of mind that lingers. At this competition the only thing we don't back down from is the game," the young leader later continued.

When asked about his personal goals for this competition, Ibrahima Diallo has only one idea in mind: to serve his national team.

“Everything that needs to be done to be effective on the court is part of my objectives. Successful baskets passes, dribbles."

Summarising the aspirations of one who envisions himself among the future's best players worldwide, he extends his influence to the younger generation with this message:

"Never give up in life…believes in your dreams."
