Guinea's Alpha Kaba has joined Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Guinean (2.06m, 28) made the swap to Israel following an injury to Maccabi's playmaker, South Sudan's Wenyen Gabriel. The Guinean star is expected to be with the club for a month and a half.
With this new contract, Kaba joins the 11th professional club in his career after plying his trade in in France for Pau, Villeurbanne, Boulazac and Nanterre, and has had experienced the ABA League, China and Spain.
Currently in pre-season with the Chicago Bulls, Adama Sanogo put in a fine performance against the Milwaukee Bucks. His stats are a joy to behold. In 33 minutes on the court, he scored 16 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, made two blocks and handed out three assists. All fine efforts, but they were unable to prevent the Bulls' 111-107 defeat.
The official sponsor of the Malian Basketball Federation organized a prize-giving ceremony to honor the African U18 girls‘ and boys’ basketball champions. The teams each received 10 million CFA francs, 2 million for qualifying for the FIBA U19 World Cup, and 500,000 francs for each of the two MVPs.
In the final of the Mauritanian Cup played last weekend in Nouackchott, Rosso Basket Club beat Etoile du Nord 56-47 in front of a large crowd. Rosso have now completed the double following their victory in the national 3x3 championship against the same opponents. Bocar Kane, captain of Etoile du Nord, was top scorer, while B. Diagana of RBC was voted best player.
In Tanzania, the Senegalese made their presence felt in the colours of Urunani BBC during the Road to BAL. Coached by Pabi Gueye and led by Jean-Jacques Boissy and Mouhamed Doumbia, the Burundian team qualified with four wins from four games in the Road to BAL Eastern Division.
Senegalese players are on the move. There have been several transfers to Senegalese and foreign clubs recently. Here's a quick rundown.
Guard Yacine Diop is the latest signing from Turkish club Yalova VIP Genclik Spor Kulubu. And the least we can say is that she made a great debut in her new colours, notching up a double double (28 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals and 2 blocks) with a 25 rating.
Another transfer, this time for men. It's the giant Tacko Fall. He has signed for three pre-season games with the New Zealand Breakers. The aim is to gain exposureduring the NBL team's pre-season against NBA franchises: the Jazz, Thunder and76ers, in a bid to return to the NBA after a spell in China and Puerto Rico recently.
Finally, local transfers. Oumou Kalsoum Touré joins ASC Ville de Dakar for the next FIBA AWBL 2024, while coach Malick Goudiaby lands on the ASCVD bench.
Another key addition to the ASCVD squad is the recruitment of Mali international Diouma Berthé from Dakar Université Club. The news was shared by the club on its Instagram page. The former DUC guard joins the ranks of the Senegalese champions ahead of the FIBA Africa Womens' Basketball League, slated to take place in Dakar from December 6 to 15 2024.
