Recap: KPA vs University of Douala

KPA Sustains Impeccable 3-0 Record with Victory Over the University of Douala

It was the first game for day four of the AWBL the Kenya Port Authority took on the University of Douala. KPA already recorded two victories while the University of Douala only one from day three against CNSS of Congo.

At tip-off, the University of Douala drew first blood an led with four opening points but couldn’t keep up the pace with bad offensive decisions turning the ball over. As a result they got punished by Victoria Reynolds from the 3 points line and transition plays. The University of Douala later on took great initiatives but also had hard times making baskets. There was perfect ball circulation by the Kenyans to select the perfect shot as they annihilated University of Douala with offensive rebounds with the presence of uncontested Madina Okot. At half-time, Reynolds had 12 poins to her tally for KPA and the relentless Williams Amayaba had 8 points for team Douala. Evidently, Madina Okot led the rebounding and halftime score was 35-21 for KPA.

In the second half, the University of Douala put in a lot of effort on the offensive end getting easy points and forcing KPA to turn the ball over but this didn’t last for long as KPA increased the lead by 16 points 57-41 at the end of the third period, dominating the rebounds. Nothing was too difficult for Victoria Reynolds in this game as she kept punishing the mistakes of the University of Douala. The University of Douala tried to close the score gap but KPA made use of their heavy artillery Victoria Reynolds who scored 24points 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

Right up to the last minutes the University of Douala did not feel like giving up as Williams Amayaba for the third consecutive time emerged best performance for the University of Douala adding 17 points 7 rebounds and 5 steals to her tally. To crown it all, the game ended 74-59, KPA's victory. In a nutshell the University of Douala has played four games and won only 1 against CNSS of Congo while KPA is in a three for three run.
