Tip-off Customs vs KPA

KPA Sets Things Straight With Customs

The African Women’s Basketball League marked day 3 for group A as the Nigerian customs took the Kenyan Port Authority in a close combat for baskets. As they played each other, it counted as their second game.

At tip-off, the Customs found it challenging reaching the Kenyan basket afterwards they summoned courage and took the led with the help of go to woman Nkem Akaraiwe taking first quarter by 1 point lead 18-17.

A big comeback for KPA in the second period against the Customs, provoked by bad offensive decisions and turnovers. Thus, KPA concretised their game with smooth offensive transition plays to outscore customs in the second quarter scoring 20 points and Custom, just 8 points as KPA’s Victoria Reynolds explored their baseline to get 13 points to her tally. A decisive score of 26-45 took them to half-time.

Both teams found it difficult to score during the third period. It became a real thug of war as only 2 points separated them in the third quarter score. 15 points for the Customs and 17 points for KPA. A total of 41-62 for the big score in favour of KPA.

Power changed hands. Customs took fourth period leading by 1 point. Despite being tough it was much decisive as KPA swallowed the game and won by 20 points 53-73. Scoring machine Victoria Reynolds was up to the task again as she dropped 21 points and 4 rebounds to secure the game as top scorer for her team.

Miss double-double, Nkem Akaraiwe’s 16 points 10 rebounds were no match for the scourging at the pillar.
