CNSS vs University of Douala

A ZONE 4 BATTLE FOR THEIR FIRST WIN IN THE AWBL BETWEEN CNSS AND UNIVERSITY OF DOUALA SETS THE UNIVERSITY OF DOUALA ONE STEP AWAY FROM THEIR MAIN OBJECTIVE

It was a zone 4 battle in group A as CNSS and University of Douala both play their third consecutive games in game day three of the African Women’s Basketball League. It was a fierce battle between both teams that seemed to be on the same page.

First quarter ended highly scored, 19-18 in favour of CNSS. Both teams were good at scoring and making fewer mistakes. One minute and fifty seconds into the second period, the two teams denied themselves baskets as their defence intensified. With both teams very hungry to get their first win, things started to get exiting as CNSS got the head start, but this did not last for too long as University of Douala kept tying it up. CNSS then found an opportunity to close the half with a 2 points lead 39-37.

It was a tough start of the third quarter as the University of Douala took the lead and  later on went short of resources causing Gracia Nguz to punished them. CNSS made points difficult to get for the University of Douala until the last second of the third quarter that got glorious for them by taking the lead once again by 3 points 53-56 in favour of the University of Douala.

Tight fourth quarter, baskets were produced from both sides but this was the quarter where business was settled. After a long period of lead by the University of Douala, Williams Amayaba took matters in her hands dropping a total of 17points, 7 rebounds and 3assists to consolidate the victory.

A remake from zone 4 qualifiers set a state of disappointment for the ladies of CNSS after a remarkable double-double performance from Gracia Nguz 15 points 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Meanwhile, University of Douala made a step to the objectives they set for themselves, reaching at least the quarter-finals.
