Madagascar

National Minibasket Forum Drives Attracts 133 Would-be Hoopers

For the second consecutive year, the Minibasket Forum, a key initiative of the Malagasy Basketball Federation aimed at training and development, is underway at the Palais des Sports in Mahamas. The 2024 edition has attracted 133 participants from 17 regional committees, highlighting the growing interest and engagement in youth basketball across Madagascar. On the opening day, the youngsters underwent group games, field geography, motor skills exercise, dribbling and shooting drills.

First Edition of the Inter-High School Tournament

The Analamanga regional committee, in collaboration with the Malagasy Ministry of Education, is hosting the inaugural Inter-school tournament, welcoming both boys and girls to compete.

M’madi Receives Honourable Mention

Mathias M’Madi is steadily gaining recognition in the United States. As a freshman at Seward County, the Malagasy guard has earned an Honorable Mention in the Jayhawk Conference, an accolade bestowed by the coaches. This recognition follows his standout performance as the leading scorer for the Saints in his first year.

Mauritius

Trials for ANOCA Games

Mauritius is gearing up to participate in the 3x3 basketball tournament at the ANOCA Games, scheduled for May 6-11 in Seychelles. The Mauritian Basketball Federation (MBBF) is currently recruiting the nation's best young talent to represent the country.

The federation has invited basketball clubs nationwide to nominate their top male and female players, aged 17 or below, for trials. Additionally, the MBBF is seeking applications for officials to accompany the 3x3 senior team to the 3x3 Senior League Basketball Tournament in Reunion Island in June (28-30).

Flippers on Track for Super League Tip-Off

Mahebourg Flippers, a leading basketball club in Mauritius, is swiftly gearing up for the upcoming Super League season. The team has wasted no time and is actively bolstering its roster by recruiting talented players. Among the recent additions are power forwards John and Johnson Perrine and shooting guard Donovan Or Chung Cheong, known as a long-range specialist.
