The Malagasy Federation has revealed its coach training schedule to boost basketball's growth in Madagascar. The initial phase will target the Anosy League from March 27th to April 2nd, 2024.
Subsequently, the Androy League will follow from April 4th to April 10th, with the Analamanga League occurring from April 22nd to April 28th. May will see the focus shift to the Amoron'imania Regional League, while the Sofia League will wrap up the program from June 28th to July 4th.
The Super League's start date has been officially confirmed. Hedley Han, chairman of the Mauritius Basketball Federation (FMBB), revealed to the Sunday press that the competition is scheduled to commence on April 7th.
Eight teams will compete in the men's category, while four teams will participate in the women's division. Clubs are eagerly anticipating the call from the Sports Medical Unit to undergo mandatory medical examinations.
Réunion-native Small Forward Lucas Dubesset has earned his first call-up to the French national 3x3 team.
Currently playing for the Pau-Lacq-Orthez academy U21 team in France's Pro B U21 league, Dubesset averages 7.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.
Yesterday, the final qualifiers for the Be Sport 3x3 Basketball Tournament, which is open to players under 17, were announced.
Among the boys' finalists are the Kamikazes (comprising Alexandre Grande, Melvyn Antou, Chris Nosile, and Loïc Ponin), the Underreteds (featuring Yousha Omarjee, Anthony Dijoux, Alexandre Grondin, and Guillaume Natio), and the LEET (consisting of Elliot Riquier-Capron, Titouan Mader, Maysan Moreno, and Ethane Ratsimbazafy).
In the girls' competition, TBB Girls (featuring Soraya Moussa, Julien Lebian, and Tanya Sinacouty) and ACLC (comprising Clémentine Spreng, Azilize Hervy, Camille Lacolley, and Lucie Britis) secured their spots in the final.
The championship showdown is set to take place during RUN Ball 2024, scheduled from June 24th to June 28th.

With 2024 being an Olympic year, elections are imminent to establish fresh leadership that will shape the future of basketball in the archipelago. According to available information, the current committee is awaiting the completion of the audit of the accounts before initiating the election procedures.
