The pursuit for the David Nzoubou and Albertine Owono Trophies commenced on March 25th, with the Lycée National Léon Mba arena,in Libreville, serving as the battleground for the 2024 Gabon Cup. In the men’s tournament, 14 teams are vying for the Gabon Cup across four pools, while the women’s competition features eight teams divided into two pools, each aiming for victory.
The defending men’s cup champions, Espoir BC de l’Estuaire, entered the fray with a decisive 60-42 win against New Angel du Woleu Ntem. In another matchup, Cas 1987 de l’Estuaire faced a tough battle against Moanda Basketball du Haut-Ogooué, ultimately succumbing to a narrow 65-66 defeat.
March 24th, 2024, marked the 10th day of intense action in the National Elite Men’s Championship, hosted in Douala, Cameroon’s economic hub. Eight thrilling games were played on days 9 and 10, making it a special occasion in the Elite Men’s Championship.
This day also hosted the prestigious award ceremony honouring the top scorers from day one to day nine of the 2024 Elite Men’s Championship. Unlike previous seasons where one player dominated, this year brought surprises as each day unveiled a new leading scorer. It highlighted the dedication of the young players, emphasising their commitment to rigorous practice sessions.
