The Tunisian U18 men's national basketball team is intensifying preparations with several rigorous training sessions scheduled this month.
The coaching staff has selected a promising roster of 16 players, featuring talents such as Ahmed Bedoui, Hamza Masrouki, and Ahmed Mechmech, who impressed during last year's U16 AfroBasket tournament. In parallel, the U18 women's team was also called up for a training camp this month.
Abdelhakim Zouita, who led Morocco to their historic victory at the 2023 FIBA AfroCan tournament in Angola, has announced his retirement from the national team.
The 38-year-old forward, standing at 6ft7, leaves behind a legacy that includes a fourth-place finish at the AfroBasket in 2015. Despite his contributions, Zouita's efforts could not secure qualification for both AfroBasket 2021 and the AfroBasket 2025 qualifying phase.
