Zayd Yahiaoui: A Rising Star & A Name to Remember

Zayd Yahiaoui is a 17-year-old point guard resides in France but from the 4th of August, he will be on Algeria’s U18 squad for the African Championships in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Yahiaoui, currently active in Nantes within France's youth basketball system, is no stranger to the Algerian national team. Having recently participated in the Arab Basketball Cup, where they faced a defeat against Egypt, that loss remains etched in his memory.

The defending champion is naturally among the favourites of the competition along with Mali and Senegal, stated Yahiaoui exclusively to africabasket.net.

But for him, Algeria could also win the continental championship. They are a competitive team that has prepared a lot over the last year. Personally, Yahiaoui hopes to help his national team lift the trophy by leaving it all on the floor.

The guard tells us that he was introduced to the game by his brother, who used to play football. But he was swayed by the discipline and skills that the court had to offer.

Yahiaoui has big dreams of winning the championship for Algeria and establishing his status as a professional athlete who can evolve and adapt to the game in France's Betclic Elite Pro A, Spain's ACB, and even the NBA.

This devoted Ja Morant fan continues to appreciate the achievements of the Golden State Warriors, the reigning NBA champions, while harbouring the belief that one day, it could be him on the pro court.
