Good news for Comorian basketball. Telephone operator Mvola has renewed its partnership with the Comorian Basketball Federation (CBF). The heads of the two organisations presented the partnership at a press conference held on Tuesday at the headquarters of Telma Comores, owner of the Mvola brand.
The national 3x3 basketball teams are preparing for upcoming competitions. The men are preparing for the Olympic Qualification Tournament (OQT) in Hungary from May 16 to 19. The Malagasy team, with Arnol Solondrainy, Livio Ratianarivo, Elly Randriamampionona, and Rick-Ley Loubacky, supported by Fiary Johnson Rakotonirina and Anthony Nelson Rasolomanana, is training intensively two day a week. Meanwhile, the two Malagasy U18 national teams are also preparing for the ANOCA Games in the Seychelles next May.
The second day of the Ligue Analamanga Inter-lycée "All Step" tournament delivered its results this Saturday at three venues. In Ampefiloha, Lycée Moderne Ampefiloha(LMA) defeated Lycée Sainte Chantal 83-66, satisfying basketball fans. On the women's side, SFX Antanimena high school, under the guidance of coach Tiana Ranaivoson,dominated the Akamasoa team with an impressive score of 57 to 13. SFX also showed its superiority with a convincing 57-37 victory over Akamasoa in the men's tournament.
In Mauritius, while waiting for the 2024 season to kick off, basketball players are keeping busy as best they can. They lined up for the RedBull Half Court, a 3x3 tournament that will see the winners fly to New York, for the world finals. The Spartans, made up of Mitchy Charles, Nando Sirop, Kerry Laprovidence and Otniel Adele, won the Mauritius finals against an all-Malagasy team, and will be heading to the US city in October.
