BetPawa, one of Uganda's biggest betting companies, has officially joined the Uganda National Basketball League (NBL) as the title sponsor for the 2025 season. This partnership extends BetPawa's existing support for the senior men's and women's national basketball teams, further demonstrating the company's commitment to fostering basketball development in Uganda and across Africa.
Under the new sponsorship deal, for every win in both the regular season and playoffs, each of the 12 players and four technical staff members will receive a locker room bonus of UGX 130,000. This bonus structure is designed to motivate teams to perform consistently and maintain a high level of competitiveness throughout the season.
In addition to the team rewards, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in both the men's and women's divisions will receive UGX 4 million. This generous incentive aims to reward players who excel in leadership, skill, and overall performance and serves as an inspiration for up-and-coming players in the league.
Furthermore, winning teams in the men's and women's leagues will be awarded UGX 5 million in cash prizes. These cash rewards are intended to provide a financial boost supporting further development within the clubs and the league. Introducing such incentives underscores BetPawa's belief in the potential of Ugandan basketball and its dedication to nurturing local talent.
The collaboration between BetPawa and the Uganda NBL marks a new era for basketball in the country, where increased financial backing and enhanced rewards promise to elevate the level of the league.
This strategic partnership celebrates the sport and demonstrates how commercial investment can drive progress and inspire athletes. With BetPawa's support, the Uganda National Basketball League is poised for a transformative season that many hope will impact basketball throughout the region for several years.
