After guiding the Rivers Hoopers to a third-place finish at the 2024 Basketball Africa League, head coach Ogoh Odaudu was awarded the prestigious Coach of the Year title, becoming the first Nigerian to receive this honour.
To the surprise of many critics and fans, Odaudu led the Nigeria-based club to a 4-2 regular-season record in the Sahara Conference, topping the division ahead of preseason favourites AS Douanes in Dakar, Senegal.
The rivers Hoopers' third-place finish in the 2024 BAL season was a testament to the significant strides made under Odaudu's guidance. This marked a stark improvement from his debut tenure, when the Nigerian champions had to settle for a 1-2 record.
Ogoh Odaudu received the 2024 Coach of the Year award from BAL Head of League Operations Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje shortly before Rivers Hoopers' third-place game against the Cape Town Tigers at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
