After winning the 2023 Women's AfroBasket championship title with Nigeria and clinching the tournament's MVP award, Nigerian sensation Amy Okonkwo continued to elevate her game in France's Ligue Féminine de Basketball (LFB), one of the most competitive and prestigious women's basketball leagues in Europe, playing for Landerneau.
Okonkwo's skill and dedication to her craft resulted in a season full of exceptional individual performances, throughout LFB's 2023-24 regular season schedule. Said performances propelled her to new heights throughout the timetable, marking it as the most remarkable season of her career thus far. As a result, Okonkwo is now poised for a momentous move to Bourges, one of the top clubs in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball.
Throughout this season, the highly talented hooper achieved personal bests, averaging 17.5 points per game (the second-highest in the LFB), 6.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Additionally, she demonstrated remarkable accuracy from the free-throw line at 82.2% and from beyond the arc at 36.3%.
After turning professional in 2019 following her departure from TCU (NCAA), Amy Okonkwo spent two years playing in Spain before her first stint in the LFB with Saint-Amand during the 2021-2022 season. During this period, she averaged 12.2 points on a 44.3% shooting percentage and grabbed six rebounds in 22 minutes over nine matches.
Known for her prowess as an interior shooter, she attempted more than five three-pointers per game during her time in the LFB. Following her tenure in France, she played in Israel and Mexico before joining Landerneau in 2023.
