Spanish powerhouse, Valencia has secured the services of Guinea's national star, Alpha Kaba, until the conclusion of the ongoing 2023-2024 season.
However, due to the recent closure of the Euroleague transfer window, the 28-year-old will be unable to join his new team for their remaining Euroleague fixtures. Despite this Euroleague ineligibility, Kaba's ACB arrival is anticipated to significantly boost Valencia's line of defence, adding depth and skill to their roster as they navigate the last remaining domestic games.
The center, who propelled the Guinea national team to the semi-finals of the 2023 FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament held in Nigeria, began the season with the Chinese club Jiangsu Dragons in the highly competitive Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
Throughout his tenure with Jiangsu Dragons, Kaba averaged 16.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game across 49 appearances. Notably, Kaba emerged as a dominant force in the CBA, leading the league in total rebounds (13.1) and offensive rebounds (5.1), underscoring his exceptional rebounding skills and defensive presence on the court.
In his final game for the Jiangsu Dragons, Alpha Kaba, an absolute rebounding specialist, grabbed an impressive 26 rebounds, further solidifying his position as the season's rebounding champion. This achievement is unsurprising for the highly accomplished front-court player, who has consistently dominated the rebounding charts in prestigious leagues and competitions worldwide. Kaba's previous successes include leading in rebounds in the EuroCup (2022-23), the Adriatic League (2016-17), and the Turkish League (2021-22).
