Madagascar

GNBC hit men-women double

GNBC women's team finally overcame archrivals MB2All

The men's and women's teams of Gendarmerie Nationale Basket Club (GNBC) achieved a historic double at the Madagascar N1A championships, joining the select group of teams to have won both titles in the same year.

Led by Elly Randriamampionona, who scored 33 points, the GNBC men successfully defended their title. They qualified for the Road to BAL after an intense final, won 78-72 against ASCUT of Toamasina. Elly Randriamampionona was named MVP of the men's tournament for his brilliant performance, and Jino Tsalefitra of MBC Atsinanana finished as the tournament's top scorer with a total of 182 points.

On the women's side, although the GNBC players had previously been dominated by those from MB2ALL, they took their revenge in an impressive style. The team led by Chine won their first title as Malagasy champions, beating their rivals 77-65. Tokiniaina Sambatrarimiora of GNBC was voted MVP of the women's tournament, and Lalaina Rasoanomenjanahary of ASCUT Atsinanana was crowned the tournament's top scorer with 139 points.
