The Cameroon Elite Men's and Women's Basketball Championship has launched its new season with a fresh brand identity: the Youzou Elite Basketball Championship Messieurs et Dames.
The rebranding follows a sponsorship deal with Youzou, a company that will support the federation throughout the season. This new partnership aims to further energise basketball in Cameroun and contribute to its development throughout the national territory. Its main effect is the change of name of the National Elite Basketball Championship which becomes YOUZOU ELITE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
With this strategic choice, YOUZOU is committed to supporting FECABASKET's structuring projects and initiatives, while consolidating its support for the Elite Championship teams. The brand is also committed to strengthening the promotion of basketball and offering development opportunities to young Cameroonians by offering them a platform to express their talent and increased visibility. Youzou Elite Basketball Championship promises a high-level sports show and presents itself as a showcase for talented young basketball players in Cameroun.
The men's championship tipped off on Saturday, January 18, 2025, and Sunday, January 19, 2025, with eight teams gathering in Nkongsamba to compete for the prestigious Youzou national title.
One of the biggest surprises of the opening weekend came when FAP's men's team, a top contender, was defeated by underdogs Moungo Zone Basketball, the host team, with a final score of 57-61. This upset set the tone for what promises to be an exciting and unpredictable season ahead.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, still in the city of Nkongsamba, eight teams will compete against each other from January 25th to 26th, 2025, marking the start of the women's season.
